Some loves will last ’til your dying breath
Every choice has consequences—but seventeen-year-old Layla faces
tougher choices than most. Light or darkness. Wickedly sexy demon prince Roth,
or Zayne, the gorgeous, protective Warden she never thought could be hers.
Hardest of all, Layla has to decide which side of herself to trust.
Layla has a new problem, too. A Lilin—the deadliest of demons—has been
unleashed, wreaking havoc on those around her…including her best friend. To
keep Sam from a fate much, much worse than death, Layla must strike a deal with
the enemy while saving her city—and her race—from destruction.
Torn between two worlds and two different boys, Layla has no
certainties, least of all survival, especially when an old bargain comes back
to haunt them all. But sometimes, when secrets are everywhere and the truth
seems unknowable, you have to listen to your heart, pick a side—and then fight
like hell…
Every Last Breath was everything I
wanted in the end to this trilogy and more. Lets just ignore the fact that the publishing company changed the cover at the very end of the trilogy *angrily stares at the cover*. Anyway! The book picked up right where
Stone Cold Touch left off, and there was never a moment that I was bored. I am
NEVER bored when reading an Armentrout book. We finally get to see who Layla
chooses and I can't tell you how happy I am with her choice. Her choice reveal
wasn't done in some big unveiling or built up to be this huge thing, which I
loved, she just simply decided where her heart belonged. If you know and love
the story then you know who she will pick on the end. Anyway, this book is full
of new adventures, dangerous gambles, and heartbreaking moments, but it was an
exciting read, and I couldn't put it down.
The scenes between Layla and Roth
had me practically melting and wishing for a Roth of my own. Their chemistry is
something that jumps off the page and you can't help but love them. Then we
have Layla and Zayne. I have to say I held a grudge against him since Stone
Cold Touch, but in this book I completely forgot about it. He was so different
in this book and he finally realized what mattered in the end. I loved seeing
all of the main characters progress throughout the series. They all changed and
it was for the better. However, one thing I felt was left unanswered about a
certain character was, WHO THE HECK IS MORRIS?! Armentrout, I need answers.
Anyway, other than that, every aspect of this book satisfied me completely.
Another thing that I loved about
this book were the surprises it held and action. There were a handful of twists
in this book that threw me completely off guard and I made me love the book
even more. Predictable books can be boring and this book was so far from
predictable. Then the action comes into play. We finally see that Layla is a
BADASS. She has her moment to shine a few times and I was practically standing
up and cheering for her as I read those scenes. This book is more about Layla
taking control of her powers and her life, and you can really see that when she
starts defending herself. Basically this book is full of action, twists and
turns, shocking secrets uncovered, and a few funny moments thrown in
in-between. This is by far one of my favorite trilogies ever, and I knew I
would not be disappointed! I give Every
Last Breath five out of five stars!
